Funding your Education

The time to apply to schools is also the time to apply for financial aid. Many financial resources exist to help students, like yourself, with funding your education. Numerous scholarships, federal grants, loans, state aid, private loans, and work study programs are available, but many students do not know how to access them. We are not experts in Financial Aid, but we would like to help lead you to those that are.

The first step in learning about Financial Aid is to contact your school counselor, college advisors, or a financial aid representative at the school you wish to attend. You may make an appointment to discuss your eligibility for assistance. This advisor can help you learn about the total costs of your education and for what aid you are eligible.

To determine your eligibility for financial aid, you will need to provide your and your family’s financial information. Your financial aid advisor will help you assess the total cost of your education and housing. They may also help you make a determination on how much of your costs may be covered through financial assistance.

You need to apply for financial aid prior to knowing where you will attend school. Many scholarship applications are due in January of your senior year and FAFSA and Cal Grant are due March 2nd. In order to fill out the FAFSA and Cal Grant, you will need to have taxes for yourself and your parents complete. To learn more about FAFSA, click here.
